Air Bearing

A bearing design that uses the lifting forces of a continual supply of compressed air (or nitrogen) to "float" one surface over another. Air bearings provide a nearly friction-free load bearing interface delivering exceptionally smooth motion and ultra-precision accuracy. Without mechanical contact between the surfaces, air bearings eliminate wear, require no lubrication or maintenance, and are highly repeatable, enjoying longer service life than mechanical alternatives.
