Manual Linear Air Bearing Slides

ABTech inc offers a full line of ultra-precision air bearing linear stages for applications requiring ultra-precision linear motion, such as linear straightness measurement, linear positioning, high-velocity, ultra-smooth, constant velocity and linear systems requiring no static friction. Standard slide and carriage designs or custom engineered solutions for customer specific application. LAB series frictionless linear air bearing stages are ideal modular components for wafer scanning systems, computer-to-plate systems, linear measurement and vision systems, and pick-and-place production automation where precision positioning is required.

Standard Linear Air Bearing (LAB) Series

General Specifications:

  • High load capacity and stiffness with low air consumption (0.8 to 1.5 scfm @ 60 psi)
  • Extremely precise with two accuracy classes for cost effective design flexibility
      A1 Accuracy Class: 
         5.0 µ”/inch (0.125 µm/25.4 mm)
      A2 Accuracy Class: 
          15.0 µ”/inch (0.375 µm/25.4 mm) 
  • Dovetail, square and rectangular style rail configurations
  • Aluminum, stainless steel, granite and ceramic rail options (granite only available in A2 class*)
  • Fully constrained, magnetic or vacuum preloaded carriages (tool mount area)  
  • Fully supported or end supported rail mounting
  • Vertical or horizontal configuration capable
  • Stackable mounting configurations
  • Available with multiple carriages on common rail
  • Standard or custom bolt hole sizes and patterns for tool fixturing
  • Configurable with center of rail optional linear motor drives, encoders, drive amplifiers and controllers

Dovetail Series Linear Air Bearing Slides (LAB-D)

  • Fully captured linear air bearings with dovetail rail configuration
  • Precision ground and matched one piece carriage sides to rails
  • 4", 6", 8" or 10" wide carriages (other custom sizes available to meet unique applications)
  • Available in custom rail lengths up to 42" inches (24" for 4" carriages)

Square Series Linear Air Bearing Slides (LAB-S)

  • Linear air bearings with square rail configuration and full wrap-around carriages
  • 4", 7" square carriages (other custom sizes available to meet unique applications)
  • Available in up to 24" travel lengths for 4" rails, 42" travel lengths for 7" rails
  • End supported rails

Rectangular Series Linear Air Bearing Slides (LAB-R)

  • Fully constrained linear air bearing carriages with rectangular (boxway) style
  • Precision ground and matched carriage sides and rails
  • Available in custom rail lengths (up to 1 meter) and carriage sizes with standard or custom mounting holes
